Patient Requirements

To provide better protection and safeness, to ensure your pet’s surgery is successful and without complications, we strongly request that core vaccine Rabies for dogs and cats including heartworm test for dogs are up to date, or will be given before surgery or on the day of surgery. We will request proof of vaccination and heartworm test at the time of drop-off.

We are asking you to provide medical history of your pet from your regular veterinarian. You or your veterinarian should send us by email all relevant information for the last two years if available. If you currently do not have a veterinarian, this is a good time to start a relationship to partner in your pet’s future health.

If your animal requires Rabies vaccination or heartworm test, the price will be $35 for each vaccination and $30 for heartworm test.

While many pet owners are concerned about the added cost of an additional test to detect heartworm infection and vaccinations prior to any elective surgery for their pets, this cost is minimal in comparison to the problems that could be caused by an undetected problem during even minor, routine surgery.

Your veterinarian may recommend a tooth extraction if your dog or cat has ongoing problems with one or more teeth.  A tooth extraction will cost $46. Plus your veterinarian will provide pain medication and antibiotic (only if extraction is done) to improve healing and reduce discomfort after extractions. The total cost for these two medications is anywhere between $60 and $90, depends on the size of your pet.

Please be advised, when booking for surgeries, a non-refundable deposit of $90 (including HST, which goes back into your surgery price) has to be made in order to reserve your time spot.  It can be paid by credit card, cheque, paid in person, and money transfer. INTERAC e-Transfer will go to weldrickvet@gmail.com  (The deposit will not be refundable if you decide to cancel or reschedule your surgery appointment).

If your pet is over 20 kg please give us a call to discuss the cost of comprehensive oral health assessment and treatment.
